Upper Wilsons Creek is located in the Tweed Valley and is part of Byron Shire Council with an estimated population of just under 31,000. The area is culturally and environmentally diverse, with many national parks and world heritage listed sites as well as being rich with Aboriginal history. Byron Bay is one of New South Wales major tourism hubs and annually attracts over 1.3M visitors from around the globe.
Thousands of years ago the region was host to the largest active volcano in the southern hemisphere, stretching a vast 4000m2.
The Caldera as it is known today, has sculptured the stunning natural landscapes including huge mountain ranges, rich fertile valleys and beautiful beaches. There are many activities to enjoy in the region from diving, surfing, boating, bushwalking, 4 wheel driving and even sky diving. Being a major tourism destination, Byron Bay is host to many local and international festivals and there is an abundance of local cultural attractions such as markets, art galleries and performances as well as the many restaurants and bars in Byron Bay.
